Quiana Agbai

Interview: How to be a Successful Blogger with Quiana Agbai

Quiana Agbai is an entrepreneur in the blogging world. She started her own blog, Harlem Lovebirds, which covers urban parenting and family life in NYC. She depicts life in New York City raising a family. Her husband grew up in Brooklyn and she lived in Harlem, where her life really began. She currently lives in Jersey City, NJ with the view of New York’s skyline just out her window.

Below is a summary of our interview:

“You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.”

Her Journey

Quiana grew up in Columbus, Ohio. As a little girl, when she saw New York City on Sesame Street, she told her parents she wanted to go there and always wanted to go to the big city. Therfore, following her camp experience in New York City, she got bit by the NYC bug. After studying for 4 years in Boston, as her interest was in people’s behavior and how they act in retail, she spent an additional 5 years in Boston working at agencies.  In 2007, she finally made it to NYC. Currently, she is married, has a 3 year old girl, with a very soon expected son on the way.

Low Point

Everybody else was fulfilling their dreams but Quiana. She wanted to get out of Boston. She felt like the door was getting shut on her ability to go to New York City. All of her stress manifested in physical pain – she began taking muscle relaxers, her feet hurt from walking, and began overcompensating from the foot injuries, and so much more. However, Quiana got out of the “woe is me” attitude by saying “Enough.”

Aha Moment

Coming up on her 5 year anniversary mark this Fall, what changed was Quiana’s the one being pursued and it gave her a sense of empowerment. She realized, “in the world of blogging, you have to keep going.” Many people give up on writing a blog, but she kept going and it really took over 2 years for the door to open.
