Interview: Comedian and Actor Rick Younger Tells All
Rick Younger is an actor, singer, and comedian. He is a regular on NBC’s Today Show “Guys Tell All” segment and starred on shows like Rescue Me and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. We talk about how he has made it in entertainment.

“If you can’t stand the heat in the kitchen, then don’t sit on the stove.”
He grew up in a family of very funny people who can sing. There was always music in his family. He had good singers in his family. His father was a fan of Bill Cosby. Having been trained in improv, Rick started training and looked for groups to join. By 1994, he was doing improv. He went to college with his parents pushing him, but when he got out he was determined to pursue his entertainment career. Then he made his way to New York. He left NY due to a roommate situation, but then in 2001, he was cast in a national tour with the cast of Rent. So Rick came back and moved to the Bronx. Along the way, he became frustrated and started doing his own comedy shows. So he talks about how making his own way worked better for him.
Rick remembered when he was auditioning for things, he wasn’t booking anything. So he was tired of auditioning and not booking anything. But he began treating the audition like it’s the performance.
When he realized that it’s not personal when he receives a “no.”

He is regularly on NBC on the Today Show. Once in a while, he gets a couple of appearances. HIs videos is on his website.

The recording of his album. Also, Rick and his wife are working on a one night only performance of a one-man show about his family life. He described his life as a comedian in an interracial family.
